Conventions of Film Genre
Genre conventions are elements, themes, topics, tropes, characters, situations, and plot beats that are common in specific genres. Genre conventions are what make certain stories the genre that they are.
Action: The example of Ipman , the showing the most detailed about what scene tell you, they used all type of camera angles, movement etc., to focus on what character's move next. the sound of the fight that using sound effect in all the violence scenes. In the editing, a lot of jump cuts made when the character who is trouble and decide to run away from police or somethings.
Horror: Another examples is The Conjuring , the feeling as they created very suspense sound happen of scary and gloomy house when someone dies in the pasts. In the editing, they will using the imagery effect that show the dark aura and a lot of cutting in the scene. As for camera , they used handheld movement a lot to make audience feeling scary whenever, they imagine themselves and a few shot sizes of camera in each scene. in mise-en-scene, they using the cinematics lighting and had a lot of used low lighting to make the look more darkness and the atmosphere as well.
Comedy: is a genre of film that uses humor as a driving force. The aim of a comedy film is to illicit laughter from the audience through entertaining stories and characters. Although the comedy film may take on some serious material, most have a happy ending. The type of camera have been used and mise-en scene as well. as for sound they need to make the reality the sound or using audience's laugh sound effect to put into film.
Drama: film is a genre that relies on the emotional and relational development of realistic characters. While Drama film relies heavily on this kind of development, dramatic themes play a large role in the plot as well. Often, these dramatic themes are taken from intense, real life issues. Whether heroes or heroines are facing a conflict from the outside or a conflict within themselves, Drama film aims to tell an honest story of human struggles.
